Smooth jersey is the most common knit construction — a single layer of interlocked loops that creates a soft, flat face and a slightly visible loop structure on the reverse. It stretches comfortably in the width, drapes fluidly, and feels light against the skin. The quality of the yarn determines how refined it feels; in fine-gauge cotton or cashmere, the result is a fabric of exceptional softness and movement.
