Silk

A natural protein fibre with a smooth, cool handfeel and a gentle natural lustre.

Processed and woven in Japan

Silk is a natural protein fibre produced by silkworms as they form their cocoons. Many silk yarns are made from long, smooth filaments, which give silk its characteristic surface and subtle sheen. Silk is one of the lightest natural fibres by weight. It is valued for its smooth handfeel, its breathability, and its ability to regulate temperature — feeling cool in warm conditions and less cold in cooler ones. These properties make it well suited to garments worn close to the skin.

On the body

How silk feels in wear.

Silk jersey has a smooth, slightly cool surface against the skin. It drapes fluidly and moves with the body. The natural lustre is subtle — present in good light, not obvious in everyday wear.

Silk is a natural protein fibre. Many people find it comfortable against the skin for everyday wear. Individual sensitivity varies; we recommend trying against your skin before extended wear if you have known sensitivities to protein fibres.

When to wear

Year-round. Particularly well suited to warm conditions and layering in transitional weather.
